The martial arts are a lifestyle that will promote growth in every area of your life. Over the course of your study, you will progressively learn skills that will allow you to identify, respond and take control of a situation when the need arises. In addition to learning valuable self-defense techniques, you will identify positive changes in your life immediately. Becoming mentally and physically capable of defending yourself will accompany the advancement in personal growth. You will gain a greater level of self-confidence and perseverance. Relationships with family, friends and significant others grow and mature. Personal goal setting is also developed and practiced in our adult martial arts programs and can radically change your life.

The study of martial arts is a great way to improve your health, strength, flexibility and cardiovascular endurance. Stress levels diminish and relaxation takes its place. The mind, body and spirit will come together to form the body that we were all meant to appreciate in our lives.

HATTATSU RYU KARATE

Hattatsu Ryu Karate is an eclectic martial art system developed by John Ingallina after many years of study in arts ranging from Karate, Jujitsu, Judo, Kung Fu, Wrestling, Boxing and Muay Thai. Along with the physical techniques it is also, just as importantly, an art that incorporates and educates students in psychological self-defense and stresses the importance of physical fitness. The style emphasizes traditional values and work ethics combined with a modern day approach to self-protection.

At the United Martial Arts Center we have always enthusiastically embraced well-rounded, multidiscipline training methods. To that end we offer one of the best mixed martial arts programs around: Shingitai Jujitsu.

Mixed martial arts refers to systems that combine elements from many forms of self defense and combative techniques into a single system to provide the student with tools and abilities to be used in a broad range of self defense scenarios. At the United Martial Arts Center we have always enthusiastically embraced well-rounded, multidiscipline training methods. To that end we offer what we think is one of the best mixed martial arts programs around: Shingitai Jujitsu.

SHINGITAI JUJITSU

This is an adult only, practical, combative system, which instructs students on developing skills in close range situations. Throws, joint locks, takedowns, and ground control are emphasized during the training. The system was developed by John Saylor. John is a former 3-time National Judo Champion, 2-time Pan American Medalist, and coached the U.S. National Judo Training Squad at the Olympic Training Center for 7 years. In 1987 Saylor was voted Coach Of The Year by the United States Judo Association.

You can visit Coach Saylor’s Shingitai Jujitsu web site here.

Here is what Coach Saylor has to say about Sensei Ingallina and Shingitai Jujitsu at UMAC:

“I have known and worked with John Ingallina for many years. He is a master of several martial arts but my work with him has been in the art of Shingitai Jujitsu. John is an outstanding instructor and martial artist who is constantly expanding his own skills and knowledge. He is also one of the rare few who can impart his knowledge to others. John is the real deal and I would highly recommend him to anyone who wants to learn the art of jujitsu. “

John Ingallina was awarded the international “Instructor of the Year” from the Shingitai Jujitsu Association in a ceremony in Perrysville, Ohio on May 19, 2007. Here, John is being presented the award by John Saylor. Here is what Coach Saylor had to say on the occasion:

“John Ingallina is a true teacher and coach in every sense of the word. He has the unique combination of being an incredible martial artist as well as an extremely effective communicator and motivator. The combination of these attributes are what sets him apart and made him the recipient of this year’s award.”
